India Village Restaurant, Interlaken

What a gem! India Village Restaurant truly lives up to its top ranking in Interlaken. We ordered the butter chicken, vegetable biryani, and fish curry, and every dish was absolutely awesome. Rich, flavorful, perfectly spiced, and authentically Indian without being overly heavy or oily. The butter chicken was creamy and tender, the vegetable biryani fragrant with fresh veggies and aromatic rice, and the fish curry had just the right kick with succulent and really fresh fish pieces. But what made the experience even better was the owner: incredibly friendly, humble, and attentive. He made us feel so welcome and ensured everything was perfect. If you’re craving real Indian cuisine in Switzerland, this is the place. Highly recommend we’ll be back!

My boyfriend and I had a very nice dinner at this restaurant. We both enjoyed our food and would recommend the restaurant. We had seen the great reviews online, and the clerk at our hotel recommended the restaurant. As others have mentioned, the owner was kind enough to drive us back to our hotel. The owner seems to take a lot of pride in his restaurant and his surrounding businesses.

I dined with friends, one of whom had food allergies and they were very accommodating. It’s also the first time I’ve been to an Indian restaurant where mild really was mild. We left stuffed and happy - one of our best meals in Interlaken.

Excellent, authentic dinner. Food was superb, as was the service. Hostess insisted that they take us to catch our train, as it was raining - that is a step above.

Wow! Dinner was fantastic. I had medium spicy (by Indian standards not European) coconut chicken curry, and it was exactly what I needed. It had me dancing in my seat which only happens when I’m having a moment with my meal. 6 stars!

The people at the Indian Village made my stay so comfortable and I felt very relaxed in my room and the restaurant was so good. I will miss the food. Easy walk along the river to town.

Amazing food! Awesome service. Best chicken tikka I’ve ever had. My son said it was his favorite lamb biriyani! Service was wonderful. Marcus is very friendly.

Excellent selection of Indian food with staff very concerned to ensure we chose the right level of spice. Truly excellent biryani and other dishes. Very attentive staff and we were offered a ride back to our hotel at the end of the evening - we wanted to walk but a lovely gesture. We highly recommend.

The food is top quality and is the best Indian food I have had. For someone that has lived in USA for over 10years, I have not had a better Indian food than this. The lamp Bryani, lamp sauce and butter chicken was awesome.

The service and the food was top notch. We ordered palak paneer , butter chicken , dal makhani. The food tasted exactly how they would make it in a Punjabi household extremely authentic right level of spice , not to oily or heavy cream. Also both the naan and rotis were really well made. Trip advisor is right this is the number 1 North Indian restaurant in Interlaken.

We loved India Village- excellent food, great service, lovely patio. It was a little off the beaten path but the walk was so pleasant and pretty.

Nice meal here this evening. Service was good and the food was lovely. After paying the manageress then arranged for us to be brought back to our hotel which I’ve never experienced before. It was very thoughtful and added to a very nice evening.

A little out of the way but not far from Ost station or a pleasant riverside walk from West Station or central Interlaken. Make the effort as my lamb biryani was really tasty and full of tender meat. Highly recommended.

Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The portion sizes were generous easily enough for two people to share making it a great value as well. From the fragrant curries to the perfectly cooked naan, every bite was better than the last. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was attentive, kind, and genuinely eager to make sure we had a great time. Highly recommend this gem to anyone who loves Indian cuisine!
