Experiences in Wilderswil – Gsteigwiler – Saxeten

Racy sledding run in the wild-romantic Saxet valley, surrounded by Schwalmere, Bällehöchst, and Morgenberghorn. A family-friendly sledding pleasure by day and a romantic one by night.

After an ascent over flowery alpine meadows, the mountain hike leads through mountainous landscapes and to magnificent viewpoints in the Jungfrau region. Warning: We recommend hiking this stage starting from July!

Today's hiking day offers unforgettable highlights of this 20-day route. And literally so, because from the heights of Bällehöchst the view over the Bernese Oberland's lake and mountain landscapes is simply breathtaking.

The distinctive pyramid of the Niesen characterizes the Thunersee region in a characteristic way. Its eastern "twin brother" appears almost inconspicuous. However, the Morgenberghorn offers at least an equally impressive view. The ascent to the summit includes some highly exposed sections secured with steel cables and is therefore only suitable for absolutely sure-footed and fearless mountaineers. Mountain hiking trail, little hard surface at the beginning of the route.

The Morgenberghorn, eastern "twin brother" of the Niesen, looks rather inconspicuous compared to its striking pyramid. However, the view from the summit is at least just as impressive. The ascent and descent near the summit are partly very exposed. Some sections are secured with steel cables. The route is only suitable for sure-footed hikers without fear of heights. Little hard surface at the beginning and end of the route.

Mountain hiking trail from Nessleren/Underberg. A very rewarding ascent through the valley floor of the Saxettal over flower-rich alpine pastures to the flank of the Sulegg and over the saddle between Bällenalp and Sylertal to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Jungfrau region, Bällehöchst. The descent past the dreamy Sulsseewli with its magnificent reflection is equally impressive. A forest hike down to Isenfluh, located on a scenic terrace, concludes this varied route. At the beginning, 1 km of hard surface.

Saxeten is a small world of its own. Around the village of 100 inhabitants, there are extensive meadows and pastures with lots of cowbell ringing. On a circular hike on the sunny slope, you get a delightful insight into this idyll.

The journey with the nostalgic and iconic Schynige Platte Railway to Breitlauenen is already a highlight. At the historic Breitlauenen station, you feel transported back in time and can refresh yourself with provisions in the quaint bistro. A beautiful hike, following the mountain hiking trail uphill, halfway parallel to the railway track and the cog railway. Upon reaching Schynige Platte, you are rewarded with a magnificent panorama.
