Restaurant Città Vecchia, Unterseen

We dined at this small Italian restaurant on our last night in Interlaken: headline-FANTASTIC! Reservations are a good idea unless you are feeling lucky. They saved a great table for our group of 4 tucked up under the giant awning-which was lucky because there was a brief rain shower. Staffing is a bit slim but boy do they hustle. The owners son ended up helping us out and we had a very fun time interacting with him. The tempting menu offered almost too many options including hosemade pastas, pizzas and mains. We opted to share the bright and tasty tomato bruschetta (yum!) while I got the lasagna (huge portion) and my wife the lemony risotto with shrimp (favorite). Our friends got a tasty Neapolitan pizza (lots of options) and a spaghetti with eggplant which they enjoyed. We washed it down with a very reasonably priced bottle of brunello (2020 vintage-score!) and finished with a bit of their own limoncello. Their setting in a cute historical square makes you think just for a moment that you are in Italy as the clock tower rings out the hours. Do yourself a favor and plan to head over to this hidden gem in Untersee- just across the river.

The pizzas were delicious, and I thought the spaghetti was good as well, although it was a bit more watery than I expected—it could have been slightly creamier. The staff were incredibly attentive, constantly dropping by to ask if everything was okay. Honestly, it might be the best service I received during my stay in Interlaken. I highly recommend trying the Aperol Margarita.

So we were in town for 3 days and ate here for lunch and dinner! Pizza is amazing as is the service. Dinner was super. I had a Sicilian spaghetti with veggies and my husband had the lasagna, which he said was one of the best dishes he’d had.

Our experience at Ristorante Sapporo e Pizzeria was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to a true Italian culinary experience filled with warmth, authenticity, and outstanding food. What truly elevated the evening was the remarkable service. Sara was one of the most attentive, caring, and responsive professionals we have ever had the pleasure of encountering. Her attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel welcomed and appreciated from start to finish. Combined with the excellent wait staff and delicious cuisine, this was one of the finest dining experiences we’ve enjoyed in a very long time.

Absolutely blown away by the amazing food! The owner was more than attentive and was so kind. The best location at the end of the street so it’s nice and quiet.

This is a traditional Italian restaurant. The food was amazing and the service perfect. For those who has gluten free allergic or intolerance here is a good option.

The owners are Portuguese but the chefs are from Napoli, Sicily, and Catania. What more is there to say? If you love amazing flavors, simple, yet perfect, preparations, great wine, and authentic and genuine hospitality, then what are you waiting for? Everything we ate was delicious: Polpi, Caprese, Spaghetti con Cozze/Vongole/Pomodoro, Melanzane Parmigiana, Spaghetti con peperoncino & gamberoni, Vitello con limone e tagliatelle. Get the tiramisu and don't pass on the lemon sorbetto with limoncello. I wish I could transport this charming restaurant back home with me. I'll just have to settle for it being among our best memories of Interlaken.

Good pizzas, lovely staff. The caprese ravioli was great too. Nice red wines by the glass. All set in a pretty square if you manage to sit outside.

Beautiful pasta and service. Lovely restaurant with great service, food and view. The pasta with mussels and clams was delicious! My husband had pasta with chicken with spicy cream sauce which was very good. Highly recommend.

Went here based on TA reviews and weren’t disappointed. We were there early (about 5:40) and it was quiet but by 6:30 was almost full. Food was good, service was good and location was nice. Prices ok for Switzerland.

Even in somewhat adverse circumstances, this restaurant shone today. We were about to finish our main course outside on a pleasantly warm evening when the owner invited us and the other Al fresco diners indoors ‘because a huge thunderstorm is going to break out shortly’. It turned out to be of truly biblical proportions, and good cheers were preserved for everyone - excellent crowd management of families with small kids, romantic couples, and middle-aged geezers. And did I mention that the food was excellent also on the veggie side? We will be back!
