On the Engstligenalp, at the foot of the Wildstrubel, winter regularly creates a fairytale landscape. Those who float up by cable car are greeted by a few ski lifts, two mountain inns, and vast open space. The high plateau of the Engstligenalp is among the cultural landscapes and floodplain areas of national importance. In winter, all the little streams are covered by snow. You can take a simple circular hike or snowshoe hike to the Lägerstein, a massive glacier erratic considered a place of power. The sled dogs have to pull strongly as well. The round trips on the wide high plateau are as popular as building igloos: once build a snow house like an Eskimo and then crawl tired into the sleeping bag after dinner. This is possible on the Engstligenalp.
