Experiences in Beatenberg

One of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Bernese Oberland is undoubtedly the Niederhorn. The panoramic view stretches from the High Alpine peaks to the Jura. Those who follow the winter hiking trail laid out in a wide arc down to Waldegg will constantly see changing sections of this panorama. The hike offers, in addition to longer flat sections, some steeper downhill passages, so it is preferably undertaken with a sled. The route is marked with green signs and poles.

Sledders, skiers, and cross-country skiers create lively activity in the Beatenberg/Waldegg winter sports area. In charming contrast stands the quiet Habkern valley. The pleasant high-altitude hike connects these two contrasts and offers enchanting nature experiences. The route follows a yellow-marked hiking trail; in the Habkern area it is marked with pink signposts.

This hike takes you from Beatenberg Station through an unlit tunnel (bring a headlamp) to Spycherberg. Slightly above, near Püfelberg, the very steep Bear Trail starts on the right side.

High above Lake Thun, a path runs above the tree line along the Güggisgrat. Besides the various wildlife, a phenomenal panoramic view of the Bernese Alps is captivating.

Spectacular rocky paths with wide and deep views lead to the golden-yellow harbingers of spring above the village of Beatenberg. At the most beautiful viewpoint, the auricles shine at the Bireflue. They are only accessible to visitors who are sure-footed and not afraid of heights. The hike is not recommended in wet and icy conditions.
